Athenry publican Neil Molloy has put his acting talents to good use to bring out a weekly video to promote music that he has in his Hop Inn pub every weekend.

But it is no ordinary video as Neil acts out a particular character in the videos which last around three of four minutes in length before he plugs the bands that will be appearing in the Hop Inn.

A popular part of the clip is when he mentions the traditional music slot on a Sunday, he breaks into what only can be described as 'a unique form of Irish dancing' – one that has been replicated at weddings in the area in recent times.

While he has made some 27 pieces of footage over the past seven and half months, they have only really captured the imagination of the public in recent times and now they have a cult following. Some of the videos are entitled Know Your Sport in which Neil, a native of Attymon, plays the part of a variety of athletes and gives his own take on their roles.

One of the most popular videos, which can be seen on YouTube and Facebook, is that of the golfer in which Neil is decked out in white golf shoes, a sky blue pants and sleeveless tank top. His golf bag contains several hurleys and a mop and during the course of the sketch he is playing a par 12 in a mythical Attymon Golf Club – duly acing the hole in one single shot.
