Failte Ireland has announced new dates for 'Meitheal' , its Internattional Travel Industry Trade Fair. The event, will now take place onTuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th May.
Meitheal was due to take place this week and more than 250 overseas buyers and 300 service supplioers had signed up for the event which features thousands of one on one business meetings. However most of the incoming operators were affected by the air traffic duisruption and had to cancel. As a result more than one thousand bednights were cancelled in Dublin and Irish tourism service providers had to reorganise their schedules.
Failte Ireland and Tourism Ireland staff will now be working to ensure that as many overseas operators as possible will be available for the revised dates. 'Meitheal' is sseen by the industry as a vital marketing opportunity to talk directly with buyers and to seal contracts for the 2011 season.
